Yesterday, Australia became the 26th country in the world to legalise same-sex marriage, after a long debate and an expensive postal survey.
Despite the great triumph on legalising same-sex marriage, the road for LGBTIQ Australians is still long.
Some issues brought to the fore are religious exemptions on workplace anti-discrimination laws, inclusive sexual education in schools, prohibiting gay conversion therapy, and Australia’s role as a LGBTIQ human rights leader in the Asia-Pacific region.
