Yesterday in parliament Centre Alliance Senator Rex Patrick failed in his bid to amend legislation to end perpetual leases for oil explorers in the waters of the Great Australian Bight. He says it’s time fishing and tourism industries were given certainty rather than be constantly living under the threat of drilling. His party will continue to advocate for World heritage listing for the area.
