Don Watson is best known as a wordsmith – his book Death Sentence was a scathing critique of the kind of cover-up language that lets governments and bureaucracies do really terrible things, or nothing , and get away with it. His latest book American Journeys is quite different – Don spent some time travelling around the states and found a lot to love and a lot to hate about the country that looms so large for the rest of the world.
