South Australian councils to be given no choice in the Australia Day debate

As councils around Australia vote to abandon celebrations of Australia Day on January 26, the newly appointed South Australian government has promised to force the hand of the state’s councils. Local governments will be forced to recognise the January 26 date under legislation the government expects to pass by next year.
