Australia’s answer to CNN was unveiled today – The Sky News Australia Channel. Australia’s first 24-hour commercial news export was touted in today’s Australian newspaper as a replacement to the ABC’s Australia Network, canned by the government four months ago. Sky was the original frontrunner for the Australia Network contract, before the previous government intervened and gave it to the ABC. Now the Sky’s Australia Channel will enter the market without competition.
