Serco to run new women’s prison in Queensland

Overcapacity in Queensland’s prisons are at record high rates.

To address the issue, the Queensland government has commissioned private service provider, Serco to operate a new women’s correctional centre in Gatton, South Queensland.

Protestors have raised concerns for the women being sent to the new facility, given the private service has a history of human rights abuse.
