Earlier today the Federal Environment Minister formally approved the expansion of Xstrata’s McArthur River zinc mine near Borroloola in the Northern Territory. Mining was stopped at the McArthur River Mine in December last year and this is latest in what has been quite a long battle between the mine, environmentalists and traditional owners.
