Mamdouh Habib is battling the Australian Government in the Federal Court this week, seeking justice for his torture at the hands of US forces. Habib was captured by the Americans in 2001 and sent from Pakistan to Egypt, before his detainment in Guantanamo Bay. Habib’s lawyers argue that the Federal Government is using national security concerns as an excuse to cover evidence of Australia’s culpability in his rendition and torture.
