Dr Kooshyar Karimi is these days a practising doctor and author living in Sydney but the tale of how he got to Australia reads like an adventure novel. It is also an everyman’s account of the desperation of being a refugee, forced to steal to survive and to turn to people smugglers when there are no other options left.
