A recent visit to Fiji by Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has laid the groundwork to rebuild relations between the countries, after sanctions imposed on the island nation were finally lifted. The sanctions, originally laid by the Howard government 8 years ago, were in response to Navy leader’s Frank Bainimarama dissolution of the then government in a military coup.
