Employing women and youth in farming activities, and returning to traditional foods could be the answer. That’s according to experts in Sydney attending a conference on Africa’s food security problems.
It’s attracted 29 expert speakers from around the world and the Minister of Foreign affairs Bob Carr has used the conference to announce a fifteen million dollar partnership with Canada aimed at improving food security for mothers and small children in sub-Saharan Africa. Home to some of the poorest countries in the world, experts say Africa has a very bright future if its 54 states can address the worrying food crises currently gripping parts of the continent.
