Chinese investors are currently in the process of buying between 40-50 dairy farms across south west Victoria. Amongst the properties is Glenormiston Agricultural College, which has prompted fears of a Chinese monopoly taking over the area and industry. AUSBUY and ‘farmer power’ are particularly concerned about the acquisition and question a lack of transparency over the deals. Local farmers gathered today for a forum to hear trade Minister Andrew Robb discuss plans to make sure locals and their industries were protected from any deals.
