The Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese appointed lawyer and former president of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry Jillian Segal as the special envoy for Antisemitism. As a special envoy, she will advise the government on anti-Jewish sentiment in Australia. After the organisation reported a significant rise in racial discrimination against Australian Jews. However, others have doubts on this approach to battle discrimination. Especially with a reported rise of anti-Palestinian and Islamophobic incidents along side antisemitism since the October 7 attacks.
