The Federal Government is once again facing criticism of its detention policies, after the death of another asylum seeker at WA’s Curtin Detention Centre yesterday – the fourth within a detention centre inside seven months. Refugee advocacy groups say that, like the previous instances, the young Afghani man at the centre of the latest tragedy was a victim of suicide. The deaths have focused attention on conditions at detention centres, in particular the mental health of detainees.
