Bill Shorten promised a reformed Labor party in order to draw more Australians to become a member of the Australian Labor Party. In a speech in Melbourne, he said that the ALP would no longer require perspective members to be union members, and promised a “one click” online joining program by July. He also said he wanted a “membership-based party, not a faction-based party”, indicating a step away from the union movement. So, are these moves going to have Australian voters convinced?
