Philanthropy: higher education’s blessing?

Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest’s recent announcement that he’s donating $65 million to higher education in Western Australia has sparked discussion on philanthropy’s role in funding universities. Whether it’s a more flexible and reliable source than government funding is being debated. And exactly how much philanthropy plays a role in funding Australian higher education is minimal, even with a huge investment like this one.
