A new language has emerged: not out of the depths of the Amazon or the hill tribes of Africa but from just south of Darwin. The language is a mixture of Warlpiri, Kriol and English and is said to have been created by children in the late 70s.

A newly evolved Aboriginal language has been praised as an exciting development in a community south of Darwin. Light Warlpiri is spoken by about 300 people in the Lajamanu community.
