Modest boost in hiring of ppl with disabilities could add ‘$40bn to GDP’

As the world marks the International Day of People with Disability, advocates say up until now there has no progress in the employment outcomes of people with disabilities. A new report by Access Economics calculates a 10 per cent increase in hiring of people with disabilities could result in a potential $40 billion boost to the economy over the next decade. People with disabilities are one-and-a-half times more likely than the wider population to be unemployed.
