When the earthquakes hit Christchurch in 2010 and 2011 nobody saw them coming. In fact nobody even knew about the small fault line that caused the last earthquake which killed a hundred and eighty five people.
Since then one scientist has been on a mission to map some of the smaller faults that have been causing so much damage to the region.Geologist Richard Arculus just returned from a three-week research voyage where he explored the bottom of the sea around Fiji.
