Western Africa is currently in the grip of a terrible food shortage, exacerbated by the unrest in Mali. There are now hundreds of thousands of people in need of aid.
Niger, Chad, Mauritania, Senegal and Mali are among the worst affected, with more than six million people at risk of hunger and in need of food assistance.
