Indigenous people have been hardest hit by the federal governments tough new approach to welfare with one in five unemployed Indigenous Australians reportedly getting their payments stopped as a result of not showing up to Centrelink appointments. But the tougher approach has also resulted in a three percent increase in the number of indigenous Australians attending appointments. However, despite the increase in people attending these appointments this does not necessarily mean more people are actually getting a job.
