In 2007 adventurer Andrew McCauley set out to become the first person to cross the treacherous Tasman, from Tasmania to New Zealand, in a kayak. He didn’t quite make it. His kayak was found floating and his body has never been recovered. His wife Vicki has now told the story he had intended to tell in a new book Solo where she defends his courageous sprit against people who say he was irresponsible to undertake such a journey.
