The US have always met the requirements of the convention against landmines during its lifetime but are still refusing to sign it despite 3/4’s of the world’s countries having already made this move. As part of the convention’s tenth year in existence a conference will be held this week in Columbia, South America, to which the US will be sending delegates. This has sparked speculation they may reverse their position.
