Yesterday was a big day for a small community in South-East Queensland. After more than three years of fighting to stop the Traveston Crossing Dam, residents on the Mary River finally got the news they wanted to hear. Environment Minister Peter Garrett says he will reject the dam proposal because of the environmental risks it poses to the area.
