China is getting plenty of attention this week and it seems much of the energy at APEC is being spent wooing the emerging economic giant. Journalist John Pomfret knows a much darker side of China than the friendly modern one it’s showing the world at the moment. He lived and studied there for many years and was working as a journalist at time of the Tienanmen Square massacre – his new book “Chinese Lessons” tells the stories of several of his Chinese friends – in each case they’ve had to forget their own tragic stories of families murdered or disgraced during China’s Cultural Revolution in the 60s … one of those was John’s classmate Old Wu.
