There are serious concerns about the circulation of Covid-19 in Western NSW, where Indigenous Australians account for two-thirds of daily new infections. The vaccination rate of Indigenous Australians in the region is among the lowest in the country, with 8% of the Indigenous population fully inoculated at the beginning of the outbreak. Pop-up vaccination hubs have now opened in Walgett, Brewarinna, Bourke, and Dubbo to urgently address shortfalls in the Covid-19 vaccine rollout. Pfizer vaccines have been diverted to clinics in Western NSW along with medical equipment and ADF troops to assist with shortages in medical supplies and staff.
