Djab Wurrung woman Sissy Eileen Austin stood down from her elected position on the Victorian First Peoples Assembly yesterday in the wake of the felling of a sacred tree on her cultural land.
Her stance is that without genuine efforts to respect and uphold cultural values of First Nations peoples, any move towards Treaty is tokenism.
