According to statistics from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, more than 60,000 hospital admissions for heart failure could have been prevented. Around 100,000 Australians live with a heart failure condition. Medical practitioners and organisations are helping out to raise awareness about checking up our hearts. The Heart Foundation, for instance, released a set of videos explaining what a heart failure is and more information on treatments and symptoms.

Although older Australians are most at risk, heart failure can also affect younger generations. Alexander Tate, a part-time student in Brisbane who was diagnosed with heart failure in 2011, and received a heart transplant in 2018.
