After eight weeks of intensely divided public protests, vicious blood-letting by state Liberal Party members and threats to oust Premier Gladys Berejiklian, New South Wales became the sixth and final state in Australia to decriminalise Abortion.
In a final vote this morning, the lower house of the NSW Parliament passed the controversial reform bill which now allows pregnant girls and women to have a termination up to or after 22 weeks gestation albeit with approval from two “specialist medical practitioners” and for the procedure to be performed at a public hospital.
