Humanity has been in the habit of developing war technologies that lead to immense suffering – chemical warfare, to biological, and more recently lasers.
Thankfully the United Nations have co-ordinated the ban of these technologies, but a new contender is entering the picture: autonomous weapons. These range from drones that can automatically fly and choose which targets to kill, and unmanned ships that patrol the oceans. Will the UN ban this next?
