Heralded as a possible solution to Australia’s climate change worries, Australian Nuclear Power Plants have caused a tide of debate over the practicality and safety issues. But the debate may shift up a gear with the question of what to do with all the radioactive waste from the process. A parliamentary report has just recommended that Australia look seriously at “Nuclear Leasing” – which could see us storing waste from other countries. The report entitled Australia’s Uranium – Greenhouse Friendly Fuel for an Energy Hungry World was yesterday tabled in federal parliament.
