In the past five years, international awareness of dementia as a public health issue has risen significantly and in March this year the World Health Organisation hosted the first Ministerial Conference on Global Action Against Dementia. One of the key focuses of global will on the issue is on creating communities that support dementia sufferers and their carers in a respectful manner.
