Australia strives to halve suicide rates over a decade

Every year two and a half thousand people die from suicide in Australia. Experts say this number is far too high, especially given the steady government investment over the years. Something needs to change, which is why the biggest Australian conference on the issue is being held in Horbart this week. It comes at a time when local services are facing closure because of funding cuts.
