Government ABC inquiry a necessity or step too far?

A mistake made by the ABC has morphed into a major political fight and has some worried about freedom of speech and government interference with the national broadcaster. Allegedly calling Q&A a “lefty lynch mob” Mr Abbott announced an inquiry into the incident, saying previous internal investigations have resulted in “whitewashing”. So the PM is getting his way, but is a government inquiry into the public broadcaster a step too far?
