Small decline in inequality masks bigger poverty rate

Would you say Australia is an equal society? After the Global Financial Crisis incomes actually rose for the bottom 10 per cent of the population, while the top 10 saw a modest decline. But it’s not all good news. Overall poverty and the income gap between men and women is higher than the OECD average.
